Organization Overview
Our History
In 2003, to attract tourists under an all-Osaka structure, the Osaka Tourism & Convention Association was established under a body comprised of Osaka Prefecture, the City of Osaka, and the Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
In 2013, based on agreement between the leaders of Osaka Prefecture, the City of Osaka, and business organizations in Osaka (Kansai Economic Federation, Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Kansai Association of Corporate Executives,) the Osaka Government Tourism Bureau was established as the main body for implementing tourism projects within the Osaka Convention & Tourism Association to carry out strategic tourism promotion as part of the Osaka Urban Attraction Development Strategy.
In 2015, the Association was restructured and renamed, and the Osaka Convention & Tourism Bureau was established in its current form as a public interest incorporated foundation. The Osaka Convention & Tourism Bureau has since received certification under Japanese law as Osaka's official DMO (Destination Management/Marketing Organization) and Sakai City in Osaka Prefecture joined the Bureau in 2020.
