Modeled after Tokyo idol group AKB48 and following the debut of SKE48 in Nagoya, NMB48 is the second sister group of AKB48 to form. Debuted in Osaka on October 9, 2010, they are named after the city's Namba area in which they are based.
NMB48 bases their activites on the concept of pop idols you can meet in person. They perform at the NMB48 Theater in Namba, and by June 4, 2019, more than half a million people had attended their performances at the theater.
